Definition of Dissolution
1. the act or process of dissolving:as a: separation into component parts b.) decay, disintegration (2): death (3)termination or destruction be breaking down, disruptin, or dispersing < the dissolution of the republic> d: the dissolving of an assembly or organization e: liquefaction

2. a dissolute act or practice

Definition of Boundary
1. something that indicates bouds or limits; a limiting or bounding line.
2. Also called frontier, Mathematics, the collection of all points of a given set having the property that every neighborhood of each point contains points in the est and in the complement of the set.
3.Cricket, a hit in which the ball reaches or crosses the boundary line of the field on one or more bounces, counting four runs for the batsman.

The reason I gave the definitions of to the words dissolution and boundary was because I wasn't sure of meaning in this context. Were going to look at c : termination or destruction by breaking down, disrupting, or dispersing <the dissolution of the republic> for out example of dissolution. And we are going to look at 1. something that indicates bounds  or limits; a limiting or bounding  line. for the example of boundary.

We are surrounded by boundaries in our every day lives. Weather it be governmental, personal, or even work related.  I relate this to Wikileaks by way of how some feel that the leaking of certain topics have intruded their personal boundaries.  When you put information out in the open the way Wikileaks does you cross boundaries that make some people uncomfortable.

The way in which a leak from the site Wikileaks disrupts some people's lives or how it impacts the national security has been a major issue.

Wow how quickly things can fall apart. We almost did not get this one finished.

Instead of doing the more traditional video project a small group of us got together and shoot our interpretation of what an interview with President Obama and Mr. Assange.  My fellow class mate played the role of President Obama and I played the role of Julian Assange. We started by coming up with questions that we thought would be asked by the media played by Leah Caddigan. After a couple of practice runs we shot it.

?What is Digital Media?

To tell the truth I never really knew about Digital Media as its own medium. I come from a different generation than most of my peers in this class (that is to say that I'm not post pokemon and I'm not a millennial) and its astounding to see how comfortable most of them are with this subject matter and how lost I can sometimes feel. With that being said though its been a journey to learn about everything that goes on in the world and culture of the Internet. I think that my way of framing the definition of Digital Media is to say that its any kind of art that comes from digital sources, but mostly the Internet. WikiLeaks seems to be the biggest example of what Digital Media is right now and its a perfect way to discuss the different consequences that result from everything we do being part of the internet.

The first thing we will have to do is take a look at what sociology is and how it relates to Wikileaks.  I will start by defining sociology.  Sociology is the study of development, structure, and functioning of human society.  Now the best definition of Wikileaks I could find.  Wikileaks was a website that published anonymous submissions and leaks of sensitive governmental, corporate, organizational, or religious documents, while attempting to preserve the anonymity and untraceability of its contributors.  Join me as we look into the sociology of Wikileaks.
In 2006 the website Wikileaks was launched under The Sunshine Press organisation and claimed a database of more than 1.2 million documents within a year of its laucnh.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WikiLeaks)  Since then that number has grown ten fold.  In April 2010, the site published gunsight footage from the 12 July 2007 Baghdad air strike in which Iraqi civilians and journalists were killed by an Apache helicopter, as the Collateral Murder video.  Also 76,900 documents about the war War in Afghanistan were released in July of the same year.
The argument of the United States is, several U.S. government officials have criticized Wikileaks for exposing classified information and claimed that the leaks harm national security and compromise international diplomacy.  When the reference was made to national security you could assume that they were talking about the sociology of a nation.
Some believe that these leaks have hindered the progress of our country if not the whole world.  Other’s say that this type of thing is necessary in order to put an end to terrorism and world violence.  In my opinion I believe that these leaks will always have an effect on our sociology until the end of time.  I’m not here to say who is right or wrong but, by look at the response of the leaks the government knows that they did something wrong and the person or person’s who let the information get out presumably be wrong as well.  In order to move on we will need to except Wikileaks for what it is and not put our selves in a position to be the next leak or do something to stop it permanently .

AUDIO AUDIO AUDIO blog

WOW, for what ever reason I had a very hard time creating this audio collage.  After trying and failing, and trying and failing again I just gave up. Thanks to the help of a very understanding and patient Jeremiah Cullen and Harper Alexander I was able to come out with what I believe to be a pretty cool song.  I took the instrumental version of Express yo self by NWA and made it my base track and then found sound bits of wikileaks stuff I like.  When I laid it on a track with the base track it just worked.

Image Blog

When you look at the image that I created I hope it will be rather easy for you to understand the main idea.  Lets first look at the word Controversy.  Since the before the Wikileaks hit the internet our privacy has been an issue.  But we also have the our rights and freedoms and some believe that they aren't doing anything wrong thus causing a Controversy.  Next your eyes will notice strange looking weapon just above the neon light.  No your eyes are not playing a trick on you that is an AK-47 mixed with a video camera. It seems to me that these are two of the principle tools used by those who leak private information to the world. "WHICH IS THE MORE POWERFUL WEAPON?"  All of said picture, you will see that it is floating in space above what could be an internet satellite.  One could speculate the the title covers the whole picture.

Tron, Wikileaks and Me

Even though I am in film school I am not very savvy when it comes to movie knowledge. From the time I watched my first movie until now I have mostly watched for fun.  Its  a hard habit to break.  Tron was an interesting flick. It was cool to watch a picture that was made in 1982 and see there perspective on what they thought would happen in the future of computers. I'm not very sure that a computer will ever be self sustaining with out the help from a human.

With Tron and Wikileaks I think the correlation is how the results will effect the human race. In Tron the MCP (Master Control Program) was going to take over the world if left alone.  In the real world we have Wikileaks a program that has the power to control the world in its own right.  By leaking information that may cause countries to be at war with each other.  In the movie we were able to send in someone to help stop the madness, because he help to create the problem.  The Wikileaks guy has to see that what he is doing is madness and he will have to put a stop to it.

In terms of Tron I guess we will have to zap him into the system so that he can go and destroy the program from the inside.  But who knows when we will have that technology to do this type of work.  We will have to wait and see.

Blending of Intellect and Creativity

Intellect:the capacity for rational or intelligent thought especially when highly developed.
Creativity: the quality of being creative,  the ability to create
Examples of both
We were required to read a book every week in order to develop our intellects.
Her intelligence and artistic creativity...

The whole top of this blog was taken form, http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary.  If you look you will see that in the examples the editor uses the word intelligence when describing creativity. I find that odd. Why wasn't the word creativity used when describing intellect?

For me I have to look at this in terms of my Wife and Myself. You could call my wife an Intellect. She is working toward her Ph.D and is involved in early childhood research through UNCG as her daily job.  These are traits that come easy to her.
Now take me for instance. I am more creative in which I approach things.  Not to say that she is not creative. But in order for me to strengthen my intellect I have to work 10 times harder.  I also relate it to common sense an book smarts.  I have more common sense and she has more book smarts.

Having both traits is almost unheard of. Most of these types are lacking in other areas such as they are socially awkward.   The ability to use both intellect and creativity is the goal in life. Parents strive to teach there children to the qualities of being an intellectual and creative.

Now that I think about it you have to have some creativity to be an intellect. The way in which intellects go about being intellectual is by being somewhat creative.

Gathering

I never knew that when my mother told me to gather my things that she was teaching me a very important piece of life that will stay with me the entire way.  I'm sure there are many way's people choose to gather, ways that are specific to them.  I prefer to start with easiest and make my way to the hardest.   The point that I am trying to make is that there is no right or wrong way to gather.  When you wake up in the morning you have to gather you thoughts in order to start the day.  After you have accomplished this early morning task you are able to go about you day with ease.  Question? Could Gathering be a means to an end?  Once you have gathered what ever it is you are doing you can work toward finishing.

Research can be considered a type of gathering.  When you do research you will need a good starting point.   Step #1. Analyze your topic to decide where to begin.(http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/TeachingLib/Guides/Internet/Strategies.html) I thought this was a good one. Step #3. Learn as you go & VARY your approach with what you learn.  Gathering information only works if what you gather works for you.

For me thus far I know I will need a good framework or plain in order to start gathering information to do the research.

Framing

For me the word Framing means to look at something from all angles.  Once you have done that you are able to set a standard or framework to go by. Sometimes life, nature, or some will say divine intervention will get in the way and you will have to re-frame your process. The key to this is being open to the possibilities of change at all times. Peter Bogdanovich tells us that he had no real college training, that he had went to his own college. In order for him to be successful with this method he had to lay the framework at the very beginning and stick to it the entire way.  An old Swedish Proverb

"Fear less hope more,
eat less chew more,
wine less breath more,
talk less say more,
love more and all good things will be yours."

This proverb is a lot like a framework for live. He also leaves us with a story from Jimmy Stewart and a quote that inspires me. "Give people little tiny pieces of time that they will never forget."
After watching the TED talk with Sugata Mitra I felt as though anything is possible.  The soul purpose for this man is to help the lives of others.  He is doing this with computers and with kids who have never seen a computer before and the out come is amazing. (Sometimes I wish I could pick up on things as fast as those kids.)
The High Rise interactive piece might be one of the coolest things on the web.  Not only is the artist able to capture images that captivate us but she is also able to engage us in the lives of others who live in these places.
