Intellect:the capacity for rational or intelligent thought especially when highly developed.
Creativity: the quality of being creative, the ability to create
Examples of both
We were required to read a book every week in order to develop our intellects.
Her intelligence and artistic creativity...
The whole top of this blog was taken form, http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary. If you look you will see that in the examples the editor uses the word intelligence when describing creativity. I find that odd. Why wasn't the word creativity used when describing intellect?
For me I have to look at this in terms of my Wife and Myself. You could call my wife an Intellect. She is working toward her Ph.D and is involved in early childhood research through UNCG as her daily job. These are traits that come easy to her.
Now take me for instance. I am more creative in which I approach things. Not to say that she is not creative. But in order for me to strengthen my intellect I have to work 10 times harder. I also relate it to common sense an book smarts. I have more common sense and she has more book smarts.
Having both traits is almost unheard of. Most of these types are lacking in other areas such as they are socially awkward. The ability to use both intellect and creativity is the goal in life. Parents strive to teach there children to the qualities of being an intellectual and creative.
Now that I think about it you have to have some creativity to be an intellect. The way in which intellects go about being intellectual is by being somewhat creative.
